Schedule a meeting with your boss immediately after lunch or simply offer him/her to pay for lunch (when people are hungry it is not wise to negotiate a deal with them).

Make sure you have completed all your important tasks and projects before asking for an early leave. This will show your boss that you are responsible and that your work will not be affected by your absence.

Check your company's policies.

Before you make your request, make sure you are aware of your company's policies on early leave and time off. This will give you an idea of what you can expect and what you need to do to request the time off.

Make your request.

During the meeting, explain why you need the time off and how it will benefit you and your work and the company. Say you are willing to spend some of your annual time off work already in the spring time so that it will be easier for the company in the summer when everybody will go rub shoulders on the beach in Croatia.

Be honest and clear,

and don't forget to express your appreciation for your boss's consideration. Remember that communication is key when it comes to asking for time off. Be respectful and professional in your approach and always remember your self worth!

Be prepared for a compromise.

Your boss may not be able to grant your request for an extended weekend. Be prepared to negotiate a compromise but don't take »No.« for an answer.
